Modern Winged Stainless Steel Fountain Sculpture Installation

Modern Winged Stainless Steel Fountain Sculpture Installation

A dynamic wing-inspired stainless steel fountain sculpture designed for contemporary public spaces and architectural plazas. Its flowing mirrored surfaces reflect surrounding buildings and water movement, creating a sense of motion and lightness. Integrated water jets enhance the visual rhythm, making it a focal landmark that blends art, engineering, and landscape design for outdoor environments.

Scenario Applications

  • Commercial settings: Office building plazas, corporate campuses, hotel lobbies, sales centers, etc.
  • Cultural & tourism settings: Cultural plazas, parks and scenic areas, campuses, exhibition halls, etc.
  • Private settings: Villa courtyards, private clubs, art galleries, etc.
  • Suitable environments: Open-air outdoors, indoor climate-controlled spaces, seaside/high-salinity environments (rust-resistant specifications), etc.
Process Details

  • A 1:1 scale model is first produced from ABS material using 3D printing technology. For the sculpture’s surface, 2.0mm-thick 304 stainless steel sheets are marked and cut based on the model; the metal is then shaped through manual forging—involving approximately 3,000 hammer strikes per square meter—followed by seamless welding of the sections. Flat steel components are precision-cut via laser based on Rhino software designs and assembled. The subsequent mirror-polishing process begins with grinding down weld seams and forging marks using 80-grit sandpaper, followed by progressive smoothing with sandpaper grits of 120, 320, 600, 800, 1200, and 2000. A sisal wheel with purple polishing compound is used to remove initial grinding marks, followed by a wool wheel to eliminate marks left by the sisal wheel. Finally, a cloth wheel with green and white polishing compounds is used for the finishing polish to achieve a mirror-like surface. Internally, a galvanized square-tube framework is installed to match the sculpture’s dimensions, enhancing wind and seismic resistance, with anti-rust treatment applied to all weld joints.
Design Philosophy

  1. Flow & Motion
The form is inspired by the idea of rising wings in movement. Curved lines create a continuous sense of upward energy and dynamic balance in space.
  2. Reflective Surface Harmony
Polished metal surfaces interact with light and surroundings. Reflections change throughout the day, making the sculpture visually different from every angle.
  3. Water & Structure Integration
Water elements are designed to work with the sculpture’s base and rhythm. The combination of flow and structure strengthens its presence in plaza environments.
