This minimalist sculpture transforms a continuous wave-like outline into a bold hollow metal form. The metal sculpture is shaped with rounded corners, soft inward curves, and an open center, reducing the design to one uninterrupted contour. Its asymmetric geometry feels fluid rather than rigid, creating movement while preserving the visual clarity central to minimalist design.
The mirror-polished surface strengthens the form by reflecting light, color, and surrounding details across every curve. As the viewing angle changes, distorted reflections make the minimalist sculpture appear to expand, contract, and shift. | Detalles del proceso- A 1:1 scale model made of ABS plastic is produced using 3D printing technology. For the sculpture’s surface, 2.0mm-thick 304 stainless steel sheets are marked and cut based on the model; the metal undergoes manual forging—involving approximately 3,000 hammer strikes per square meter—to achieve the desired curvature, followed by seamless welding of the sections. Flat steel components are laser-cut using patterns generated in Rhino software and then assembled. The subsequent stage is mirror-finish polishing: weld seams and forging marks are first ground down with 80-grit sandpaper, followed by progressive smoothing using 80, 120, 320, and 600-grit sandpaper. Finally, the piece is placed in a vacuum plating chamber where the selected color is applied over a 90-minute cycle, resulting in a durable, long-lasting finish.
