Sculpture: A Bronze Flock Shaped by Height and Reflection

Sculpture brings water, flight, and reflection together in this group of five abstract birds. Slender supports rise from the pool, carrying simplified bodies that tilt and perch at different heights. Irregular spacing avoids rigid symmetry, guiding the eye through the group like a flock caught between landing and departure. A blue-green patina gives the bronze sculpture weathered depth and responds naturally to the shifting surface below.

The sculpture begins as a full-scale model and is translated through lost-wax casting, preserving the tapered profiles and softly modeled transitions of each bird. Controlled heat patination builds tonal variation rather than flat color, while a protective sealer stabilizes the surface. Across the bronze sculpture, differences in height, angle, and negative space establish rhythm without sacrificing the group’s quiet unity.
