Custom Stainless Steel Mirror Globe Sculpture

Custom Stainless Steel Mirror Globe Sculpture

A stainless steel mirror-polished sculpture featuring a floating globe and circular ring structure designed by Wenhua Sculpture. The reflective surface creates strong visual impact in outdoor spaces. Suitable for plazas, campuses, and commercial landscapes. Size, finish, and structure can be fully customized with design and installation support provided.

Scenario Applications

  • Commercial settings: Office building plazas, corporate campuses, hotel lobbies, sales centers, etc.
  • Cultural & tourism settings: Cultural plazas, parks and scenic areas, campuses, exhibition halls, etc.
  • Private settings: Villa courtyards, private clubs, art galleries, etc.
  • Suitable environments: Open-air outdoors, indoor climate-controlled spaces, seaside/high-salinity environments (rust-resistant specifications), etc.
Process Details

  • A 1:1 scale model made of ABS plastic is produced using 3D printing technology. For the sculpture’s surface, 2.0mm-thick 304 stainless steel sheets are marked and cut based on the model; the metal undergoes manual forging—involving approximately 3,000 hammer strikes per square meter—to achieve the desired curvature, followed by seamless welding of the sections. Flat steel components are laser-cut using patterns generated in Rhino software and then assembled. The subsequent stage is mirror-finish polishing: weld seams and forging marks are first ground down with 80-grit sandpaper, followed by progressive smoothing using 80, 120, 320, and 600-grit sandpaper. Finally, the piece is placed in a vacuum plating chamber where the selected color is applied over a 90-minute cycle, resulting in a durable, long-lasting finish.
Design Philosophy

  1. Cosmic Structural Imagery
Drawing inspiration from planetary orbits, the design combines rings and spheres to create a spatial symbol defined by stability and a sense of order.
  2. Dynamic Equilibrium System
Multiple orbital rings revolve around a central rotating element, illustrating the interplay of forces and a dynamic relationship characterized by continuous motion.
  3. High-End Landmark Statement
The striking contrast between the golden mirrored finish and the black base establishes the sculpture as a distinct visual focal point, imbuing the campus or public space with a sense of ceremony.
