Process Details
- A 1:1 scale model made of ABS plastic is produced using 3D printing technology; the surface is created by marking and cutting 3.0mm-thick 304 stainless steel plates, which are then forged—requiring 3,000 hammer strikes per square meter—to achieve the desired curvature, followed by seamless welding and finishing. Flat steel sections are laser-cut based on patterns generated in Rhino software and then assembled. For the brushed finish, the sculpture undergoes an initial grinding process (80-grit) to smooth out weld seams and forging marks, followed by sequential sanding with 80, 120, and 320-grit abrasives to ensure a perfectly smooth surface. Finally, a wire-drawing wheel is used to apply a brushed texture that follows the sculpture’s contours (a process demanding exceptional skill and technique). Galvanized square steel tubing is installed internally—scaled to the sculpture’s size—to enhance wind and seismic resistance, and all weld joints receive anti-rust treatment.

Design Philosophy
- Ocean Wave Inspiration
The flowing arc shape captures the rhythm and movement of waves, expressing freedom and natural energy.
- Simple Fluid Structure
The clean curved form removes unnecessary details, creating a balanced and elegant visual presence.
- Architecture Integration
Designed to complement modern buildings, the reflective surface enhances the surrounding space with changing light effects.
