"Ring-shaped" stainless steel outdoor water feature sculpture

“Ring-shaped” stainless steel outdoor water feature sculpture

Designed specifically for modern plazas and architectural landscapes, this outdoor stainless steel sculpture features a polished, ring-like form with a flowing water element. Its fluid, circular shape creates a sense of continuity and balance while reflecting the surrounding environment. The cascading water effect highlights the sculpture’s unique character, and the interplay between the mirror-like finish, light, shadow, and the dynamic setting produces a visual experience that shifts over time. This piece is suitable for urban spaces, commercial developments, and public art landscapes.

Scenario Applications

  • Commercial settings: Office building plazas, corporate campuses, hotel lobbies, sales centers, etc.
  • Cultural & tourism settings: Cultural plazas, parks and scenic areas, campuses, exhibition halls, etc.
  • Private settings: Villa courtyards, private clubs, art galleries, etc.
  • Suitable environments: Open-air outdoors, indoor climate-controlled spaces, seaside/high-salinity environments (rust-resistant specifications), etc.
Process Details

  • A 1:1 scale model is first produced from ABS material using 3D printing technology. For the sculpture’s surface, 2.0mm-thick 304 stainless steel sheets are marked and cut based on the model; the metal is then shaped through manual forging—involving approximately 3,000 hammer strikes per square meter—followed by seamless welding of the sections. Flat steel components are precision-cut via laser based on Rhino software designs and assembled. The subsequent mirror-polishing process begins with grinding down weld seams and forging marks using 80-grit sandpaper, followed by progressive smoothing with sandpaper grits of 120, 320, 600, 800, 1200, and 2000. A sisal wheel with purple polishing compound is used to remove initial grinding marks, followed by a wool wheel to eliminate marks left by the sisal wheel. Finally, a cloth wheel with green and white polishing compounds is used for the finishing polish to achieve a mirror-like surface. Internally, a galvanized square-tube framework is installed to match the sculpture’s dimensions, enhancing wind and seismic resistance, with anti-rust treatment applied to all weld joints.
  • The outdoor sculptures utilize 24V low-voltage LED light sources, eliminating the risk of electric shock. Advanced power supply and control systems enable the lighting to synchronize with the rhythm of the music, producing color-changing and flashing effects.
  • Calculate the drainage volume and head, and use a high-quality, reputable brand 304 stainless steel submersible pump to achieve stable water supply and pressure.
Design Philosophy

  1. Continuity in Form
The continuous loop structure represents infinity and connection. It brings a calm but strong visual rhythm to open public spaces.
  2. Light Reflection Effect
Mirror-polished stainless steel captures surroundings and sky. The sculpture changes appearance depending on time, weather, and viewing angle.
  3. Spatial Interaction
The open circular shape allows people to view and walk around it easily. It becomes part of the landscape instead of just an object.
